Dental Tomography is a three-dimensional (3D) imaging of tooth and jaw structures of patients using x-ray.
In cases where position of wisdom teeth and their relation with anatomic regions (distance to nerve-vein packet on lower chin and sinus spaces on upper chin) needs to be evaluated as three dimensional and when structure of chin bones need to be evaluated with 3D tomography in making the implants it will be taken. It also helps while treatment plan is made for cysts and other pathologies relating with chin and all the borders of cysts can be specified in detail.
Many scientific studies conducted in recent years shows that panoramic X-rays, which are very widely used in dentistry, are not enough to detect many diseases. Therefore, many details that cannot be seen in panoramic X-rays can only be detected by dental tomography (3d X-rays).
Our clinic offers 3D imaging with Sirona Orthophos SL 3D Cephalometric tomography device that allows you to plan many treatments digitally on 3-dimensional chin imaging obtained with maximum 10X11CM FOV area and HD imaging quality. Especially in Implant planning, much more details such as jaw bone thicknesses and mandibular nerve distances that cannot be seen in panoramic images are detected with very satisfying results. Computer aided Galaxis programme which is specially developed by Sirona provide advantages for Implant planning. We start our treatment by modeling and placing 3d implants enabling professional planning in digital environment. In all aspects of diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical preparation, and management of complications are analyzed in detail with 3D imaging. We now can treat our patients with successful and increased precision. The third dimension makes a difference. Make a difference with Dentaristo.
Many people are curious about the issue whether there will be any damage during 3D X – ray-Dental tomography. But this procedure is not painful.
As well as many various x-rays, pregnant women should not have all kinds of dental X-rays. Therefore, pregnants if possible should leave their x-ray dental tomography and other x-ray exams to the postpartum period. Our advice to expectant mothers is that they should solve their dental problems by visiting a dentist and having a panoramic x-ray before pregnancy. Moreover, when there is a complication during the pregnancy, panoramic imaging that they have taken will help a lot a dentist in order to have a great idea about current situation.
Our patients who want to have a panoramic, Cephalometric or 3D tomography X-ray can have an X-ray without appointment. In our clinic, all of our X-ray types are about 5 minutes.
Modern technology and newly developed devices plays a vital role in improving quality of care and achieving best results with much less radiation. The radiation in the digital 3D dental X-ray is much less than other methods and modern techniques has succeed to minimize the level of radiation. As you can see in the table, even in our daily routines, we receive more radiation than dental tomography. Dental tomography’s operates with a significantly lower radiation dose (up to 1/6) when compared with medical tomography. The amount of rays that is given is only 0.7 – to 1.5 panoramic X-rays. Since the rays only goes to the target area, sensitive organs such as thyroid gland and cataracts are protected from radiation. Image quality and resolution is higher.
